Biblidinae

The subfamily Biblidinae has also been known as Eurytelinae. It is a relatively stable grouping, although for a long time it was considered a tribe in the subfamily Limenitidinae. Molecular work shows that it should be considered a subfamily of its own and that it is related to Apaturinae and Nymphalinae, rather than Limenitidinae. The group was extensively revised by Jenkins in the 1980's. The phylogenetic relationships of the species in this subfamily have not been studied in detail to date, but the tribes of the subfamily are putatively monophyletic. According to the current version of the Classification of Nymphalidae, there are 301 valid species in the subfamily placed into 36 valid genera and 7 tribes:
